samsungi637smallI finally decided to get a new cell phone.  I have had AT&T service now for about 6 years.  I have been with AT&T ever since it was Cingular and I have been using a cell phone that still had the old Cingular logo on it.  After the charger pins finally broke on my old one and I couldn't sync it to my PC anymore, I decided to buy a new one.

At first I was hesitant to dish out more money, but I happened to buy at the right time.  Samsung had just released their new Samsung "Jack", which is a predecessor to the BlackJack and the BlackJack II.    My old phone was the original one, pretty basic with windows Mobile 5 and then upgraded to 6.  To tell you the truth I am pretty happy with the 3 years I got out the phone, which is a pretty good investment considering how much I have used it.  It kept me up to date with 3 email accounts, music, RSS feeds, games, texting, and looking up things on the web.  Granted any Windows Mobile phone can do these things with the right software, but I think I got really good use out of it.

My new Samsung Jack is pretty sweet.  It has 256 MB of RAM and ROM, 528 MHz processor, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, Windows Mobile 6.1 (with a free upgrade to 6.5 as soon as it comes out), and many other features.  I have used the phone a little bit today and I am already impressed, especially at the price point...  $99 after rebate which is a really good deal.  It is pretty snappy, has a solid feel, and the call quility is good.

So I am going to give this thing a shot and use it and see how it works.   I have already installed all of my essential apps (which I will probably cover in another blog entry), gave it a quick run through of everything I need to do, and gave it a full charge.   So far so good, but you know how that goes.  I'll post back if anything major comes up.
