Free Antivirus from Microsoft

If you are paying for antivirus protection, you are paying too much.  There are many free antivirus products out there, but some are definitely better than others.  I highly reccomend Microsoft Security Essentials.

Microsoft has just released their new antivirus product that is free for home and personal use. This is definitely a great light weight product that is truly set it and forget it.   The installation takes only a minue.  Microsoft has already preset all of the options for you, all you need to do after installing is.... nothing.    As Microsoft says on their product page "when you're green, you're good."   They are referring to the icon in the system tray that shows you the antivirus status.  Green means it is actively protecting your system , has the latest definitions, and has not missed a scan.

I definitely recommend this product to everyone who has a home PC.  Most antivirus products out there are resource hogs, slow down you PC, and have yearly paid subscriptions.  If you want good free protection from a trusted company, uninstall your current antivirus, and visit http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ to download Microsoft Security Essentials.
